There is an Eve in every woman. The part of us that wrestles with wanting more; more knowledge, more control, more affirmation, more pleasure and a little compromise. This fight exists in Christian women today.

Temptation very rarely looks dangerous nor obvious at first. It often feels like curiosity, a harmless conversation and even sometimes like validation. And the problem is usually the desire to believe a version of truth that suits our emotions in the moment.

Like Eve, many of us are rationalising disobedience, because we believe we can justify our actions in that moment. Eve fell because she listened to a voice that questioned the truth God had spoken. The whisper was subtle, suggestive, and even more, wrapped in possibilities.

“When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom…” (Genesis 3:6)

The same whisper finds its way into our lives today. "You deserve more". "This isn’t that bad". "You’ve waited long enough". Whether it’s in our relationships, our careers, or our private battles, we often find ourselves by the wrong trees, and like Eve, we’re tempted to reach.

But even in our reaching, God comes looking. “Where are you?” (Genesis 3:9). He asks us the same, to invite us back to wholeness. The Eve in every woman can choose again to believe truth, to surrender, and to be led.
