Birthdays have a way of making us reflective. They remind us of the goals we set. The dreams we still hope for. The timelines we imagined. And the prayers we are still holding onto.

It is easy, on days like this, to feed on things that take away from our souls. But wisdom teaches The Goodly Woman to choose better nourishment.

Here are five things every woman should feed her soul on her birthday;

1. The Food of Gratitude

Before counting what you have not achieved, pause and count what you have been given; Life. Health. Strength. Provision. Opportunities. People who love us and those that we love.

The fact that you are here, breathing, learning, growing, and trying again is already a gift.

Give thanks in all circumstances - 1 Thessalonians 5:18

2. The Food of Perspective

Not every delay is a failure. Not every detour is wasted time. Not every closed door is a rejection. There is a season to build, to wait, to gather.

On your birthday, choose to look at your life through the lens of mercy. Seeing the progress, the growth, the lessons.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart - Proverbs 3:5

3. The Food of Forgiveness

Many women carry a silent guilt into new years of life. They have regrets. Made wrong choices. Missed chances.

A healthy soul does not keep reopening old wounds. On your birthday, release yourself from yesterday’s weight and lean on God’s grace afresh.

Forget the former things - Isaiah 43:18

4. The Food of Planning

Reflection is good. Stagnation is not.

The Goodly Woman looks forward with intentional planning. She makes new goals. She adjusts old ones. She stays consistent.

Commit your plans to the Lord - Proverbs 16:3

5. The Food of Rest and Contentment

You do not need to prove anything today. You do not need to earn your worth. On your birthday, allow yourself to rest; emotionally, mentally and physically.

Enjoy the simple things. The laugh of a loved one. The food you’re eating. The sleep in your eyes. The breathe through your nostrils. These are more than enough.

In peace I will lie down and sleep - Psalm 4:8
